Canvas is a bit different to work with than prints on paper.
Canvas prints are usually mounted under tension on wooden stretchers. This assembly is then normally back mounted in a suitable frame for display. Canvas prints treated in this manner have the image sized to the actual frame size or a mat opening size.

Another frequently used approach is the gallery wrap. In this case the image is printed oversize to allow the printed image to be wrapped over the sides of the wooden stretchers. This method works well for displaying unframed prints. Obviously not all images work well for this, such as those whose subject is very near the border.

We do not offer stretcher mounting of canvas prints, rather we ship them untrimmed for your local frame shop to do what they do best. This provides much safer and far more cost effective shipping of your canvas prints.
Stretch mounting is not particularly difficult and the inexpensive materials required to do this yourself are readily available from better art supply stores. We will be happy to direct you to online sources for canvas mounting tools and supplies.

In addition to stretch mounting, your canvas print should be treated with a UV and moisture resistant clear lacquer overcoat regardless of the inksets being used. This should be done after your print has been stretched. Suitable spray on clear coats are readily available at better art supply stores. We will be happy to direct the do-it-yourselfer to online sources for this as well. We do not offer this service ourselves as it must be done after the canvas has been mounted to be effective.

Canvas prints can also be stretched over self-adhesive foamboard or other suitable rigid substrate where a lower profile is desired. Prints for this type of application can be made with the image sized to a mat opening instead of the frame size. This combination can then be placed in an inexpensive back loading frame with excellent results at a very modest price.

Our canvas print pricing is based on the use of Epson branded fine art canvas which we maintain in stock. Other canvas materials as well as fine art papers can be special ordered with availability normally within 3-5 days.
