Approximate uncompressed file sizes expressed in megabytes for 35mm color film scans at various resolutions.
JPG compressed file sizes vary, but will generally run about 1/3 to1/2 the 8 bit file sizes shown when stored in highest quality mode. Depending on your intended use, a small increase in compression will substantially reduce JPG file sizes without a great sacrifice in quality.
Reducing color depth to 8 bit when storing TIF files will substantially reduce file size without a sacrifice in visible color quality. Where the higher bit depth may be important to those planning on manipulating these files extensively in the future.
Our scans are made for printing, not just sharing.
You will not get files like these on a picture disk at the corner drug store.
You can always make a digital image file smaller without appreciable quality loss.

To print 8"x 10" full frame at 300 dpi you'll need a minimum 2667 dpi film scan.
About 8" x 12.4" before cropping to aspect.
To print 11"x 14" at 300 dpi you'll need a minimum 3667 dpi film scan.
About 11" x 17" before cropping.
